NEC appoints New President for NEC Corporation (Thailand) Ltd.
Bangkok, 16 May 2016 - NEC Corporation (Thailand) Ltd. announced today the appointment of Mr. Takayuki Kano as its new President, with effect from 1 April 2016.
Mr. Kano has close to 30 years of international sales experience in the IT industry garnered from his several managerial positions held regionally and globally, since he joined NEC Corporation in 1987. His career in NEC started with the involvement of sales in NEC’s North America Business Promotion Division before moving to the Asia Market Division in 1992.
In 1994, Mr. Kano moved to the Bangkok Representative Office for 5 years before returning to Japan to take on other roles. Prior to this new appointment, Mr. Kano was Deputy Managing Director of NEC India from 2008 to 2011. Following that, he served as the Deputy General Manager of the Greater China and Asia Pacific Division for 2 years before becoming PT NEC Indonesia’s President Director since 2013.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Kano said, “I am honored to take on this role and excited with the opportunity to work with the team at NEC Corporation (Thailand). With my experience working in other APAC markets, I look forward to further strengthening NEC’s businesses in Thailand with the aim of becoming a total solutions provider across all our key businesses.”
In addition, Mr Kano is also appointed as NEC Asia Pacific’s Deputy CEO for Sub Region, Greater Mekong (Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia) where he will drive NEC’s business development and expansion in that region.
Mr. Kano replaces Mr. Hiroshi Sato, who has been leading NEC Corporation (Thailand) Ltd. since December 2011. Mr. Sato will move back to Japan to take on a position with NEC Networks & System Integration Corporation.
